As you have probably heard, we have continued to grow in leaps and bounds over 2007 and we are making some great progress with the many issues facing our great industry. It is also great to see the majority of companies renewing their memberships and encouraging many more to join our ranks. The PTAO is here to stay and will continue to be the voice of all tow operators in Ontario.
Our Annual General Meeting was well attended this year and the presentations included the Financial Reports and the operating budget for next year. A slight change in the Board took place at which J.P. Cruz retired and the election of Gadi Cohen of Co-Up Towing taking his place. We sincerely thank J.P. for all his hard work and dedication to the PTAO and ultimately the Industry.
In 2008 we will again be hitting the road with a multitude of Regional Meetings all over the Province. There will be many items tabled at these meetings including Pricing, the Payment Guarantee, Provincial Licensing, Insurance Issues and the State of the Association.
We will also continue to meet with the Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of Finance to discuss the many issues we are facing and negotiating a fair and equitable system of dealing with Police Tow Calls and the many issues that goes with this.
Now I must add that we will be holding our annual Charity Golf Tournament in June (watch the website for the date and place) and the Tow Show in 2008 will be again be held at the DoubleTree Plaza Hotel in Toronto from September 11th through to the 14th so mark your calendars now.
In closing, we extend our best wishes to everyone in the Towing Industry for a safe, happy, healthy and prosperous Holiday Season. Please remember to be careful and work safely so everyone goes home.
Best always,
Joey Gagne, Elaine Habel, Don Burt, Alex Anissimoff, Dan Dion, Bob Gowan, John Somerville, Jim Martin, Gadi Cohen, Doug Nelson and Judy Hillman.
